Day Trips from Brugge

Can you give some suggestions on day trips we can take from Brugge? We'll be staying there for 2-3 days. We have stayed in Brugge before so we did most of the touristy things including a bike ride to Damme and some coastal places already. We also have been to Brussels, Ghent, Mechelen, Antwerp. We were thinking of going to Rotterdam, Is that going to be a long train ride?

Although Ira knows I loe Paris, just for a different point of view why not a day trip to Amsterdam?

The ride is quite manageable, and the city itself is quite compact. When you arrive at Centraal Station you are within walking distance, or a tram ride, of most of the core of Amsterdam.

Give it a try!

Hi JoyC,

Both Rotterdam and Paris are 2h30 away by train. Depends on you if you think that's worth it for a day trip...

I would suggest Ieper and the surrounding WWI battlefields though.

Apparently Quasimodo is organising good guided 1 day excursions.

Knokke and the natural park of the Zwin are also nice.

Have fun !

Thank you all for your suggestions. I have been to Paris and even if I haven't, a day trip won't do it any justice. I know there is a high-speed train debuting at the end of the year (hopefully) and that will cut down the time between Brussels and Amsterdam I believe to 1h46. But since we're staying in Brugge, it might be a little longer as we have to go to Antwerp to get the HS line. Anyway, thanks again for all the ideas.

Intex: Is there a reason why you are responding to me with this kind of written language? I looked at your other postings and you seem to speak and write perfectly good English. You seem to be annoyed at my question.
