day trip from venice
I would like to travel by train on a day trip from Venice. Any suggestions?

While not a train trip, there is a daily cruise from Venice on the Brenta Canal to Padua. The cruise boats visit the several Palladian villas along the canal. The trip includes a train trip back to Venice.

Hi Cim - There are several good options -

Verona, Padova, Vicenza, Treviso, Bassano del Grappa, Asolo ... to name a few. You're spoilt for choice

I was going to suggest a trip to Padova - a very lovely city with the amazing Scrovegni Chapel. Then I read DRJ's suggestion about the Brenta Canal cruise and that sounds fantastic!

I'd also consider Treviso, a pleasant town with canals.

Bassano del Grappa wins. I've checked it out and can't wait to get there. Thanks for everyones help.

I did both Vicenza and Bassano del Grappa in a day from Venice. If you look at train schedules a half day in each place can double your pleasure.
