Day trip Dublin to Galway?
Have two full days in Dublin April 7-8. Was wondering if it is practical to do a day trip to Galway by rail one of those days? Just go in the morning, knock around, come back in the evening? Things we might do for only a day? We enjoy the train and thought it was a good destination to spend a day doing something different. We are older and like to hang out and eat good food and would not be there for the nightlife but if it might be an option please advise. Thanks!

Galway is across the country from Dublin. Rome to Rio indicates the train is 2 hours and 18 minutes one way. You'd be spending an awful lot of time on the train to have a short amount of time in Galway.
Two full days in Dublin isn't a lot of time. You might want to explore Dublin leisurely and save a bit of energy for an evening enjoying traditional music in a pub.

I think you are correct. We were there last October for five days and did get a day trip out but we're kinda ill one day and did not really see the city. Did a double deck tour and immigrant museum...may just do those days in Dublin. Thanks!

Yes, a day trip from Dublin to Galway by rail is practical! The train takes about 2.5 hours each way, so you’ll have plenty of time to explore.
For a relaxed day, you can:
