day spa in S.Germany or Austria

My wife would like to have a massage and perhaps "the works" at a spa during our upcoming trip to Austria (Tirol, Salzburg, Salzkammergut) and Bavaria. Any experiences or recommendations you'd be willing to share would be appreciated.

The German word for spa resort is "Kurort" and if you put that into Google you will come up with a range of towns that offer spa facilities.

But I think you are safe to wait until you are there and then get a recommendation from the local tourist office.

Have a closer look at Bad Fuessing - situated more or less on the border between Austria and Bavaria.

(if this is still of interest, as the original question is 8 years old)

In the Salzburg area, Bad Reichenhall is a charming spa town (actually in Germany) and easily reached by postbus from Salzburg (about 30 minutes by bus) or car. A modern spa, beautiful outdoor pools. Can also be reached by train, but the bus route is faster and more scenic.

Forgot to add: In general, German spa towns can easily be recognized by the "Bad" in front of the town's name.

I've been to a few spas and Wartherhof in Warth, Voralberg, Austria is my absolute favourite. The food is divine, the pool sensational, the saunas out of this world and the massages put you in heaven. They have different baths that make you feel like your floating on water. The rooms are large, quaint and very Austrian.

The town itself is small and nothing to write home about but I whole-heartedly recommend this spa if you want the works.

My vote goes to Bad Reichenhall, about 35 minutes by car, 45 minutes by train from Salzburg.

Treplow, I don't think we cna make it that far wast in the time we have (see my other post to you re: driving). I still have not heard back from Interalpen, so trying to have an alternative, en route from Munich to Garmisch-P, taking the route that you suggested so that on the 3rd day of our touring, we will arrive at G-P frm the couth, per your suggestion-- would really like to work a spa day or two in there-- alternatives to Interalpen near Seefeld?

On the way from Munich to G-P, slightly to the east of the autobahn is Bad Tolz. The spa establishment there is called Alpenmare, and it has all the facilities you need, with the additional bonus of several of the longest and quickest waterslides in Europe!
