Anyone eaten there? I searched this forum & didn't find any info. I reviewed the restaurant website & no menu or prices there. I searched google & didn't find any menus. Did find quote of lunch for $75-$125pp. That's too steep for us, but we would prefer breakfast anyway.

Anyone know the menu, price, & times for breakfast?

Any feedback on the experience of eating there?

I emailed the restaurant for menu, price, & times, but you know how that goes. Maybe I'll get a response & maybe not - hope so. Appears reservations are required in order to avoid a long wait.

We had dinner there, but there are plenty of other restaurants that have better food at a more reasonable rate.

I found the view wonderful, so not sure it is worth it to avoid a line.

The last time I had something to eat there is long ago. I simply cannot remember. Guess it was not too bad. Pricey, but not too bad.

One major advantage is that you can use a side entrance of the Reichstag and cut the main queue. But I can't remember if you need a confirmed reservation to do so.

lincasanova, thank you for your reply. Sorry I didn't make myself clear, but we are not interested in this restaurant for the food, but for the view & as a pleasant morning start to our tour of the Reichstag.

Did either of you get a window table & if so, did you request it in advance? Do you remember if bottled water was available. I don't like coffee & tea & not much for juices either. Don't want to pay a bunch for a soda either!

Anyone know of alternative restaurants with as good a view - for breakfast or lunch?

That's totally overblown. The entrees are between 16€ and 30€. That is quite reasonable and the quality of food is good.

Breakfast starts at 16€, the full breakfast is 27€ (which is pricey IMO).

You can go for lunch there and have a soup and a dessert, totalling around 18€, probably better value than breakfast.

The cheapest option will be afternoon cake and coffee.

However, the best view is at dusk when Sony Center and the city are illuminated.

When you reserve, you get a reservation number (like "two" or "three"). This number is the magic word at the entrance and allows you to bypass the line.

Many of the tables of the Reichstag restaurant do not have a view at all. You get the view when you wander around in the glass dome.

Another restaurant with a view? I am afraid, for Europeans, view is not important. It is a typical American thing. We Europeans like to walk, so we get views all the time while walking, not while sitting in restaurants.

There are a few restaurants on the Gendarmenmarkt which might have a view. But they are generally overpriced and mediocre. The good and reasonable restaurants do not have a view.

The idea is to see the Dome without lining-up. There is no view from the restaurant - you have to walk outdoors.
Even then, nothing spectacular to see.

Now that is interesting about "no view". There are pictures online showing tables lined up along the floor to ceiling windows. Echnaton & danon, are you sure there is not a view from the restaurant? lincasanova said the view is wonderful???

I find that "no view" theory somewhat particular.

There are many places in Berlin "with a view", for example:

the restaurant on top of the TV tower (now THAT is some view on a clear day, but restaurant is more so so)

The restaurant/bar/club Solar near Anhalter Bahnhof S-Bahn station. 20th floor, full glass windows, great place for drinks

The top floor of the Park Inn hotel on Alexanderplatz (entrance fee, cafe)

as far as I remember, there is a terrace in front of the indoor restaurant - you don't get much of the "view" sitting indoors.
Berlin is no Paris or Rome as far as "views" are concerned anyway.

What I meant was, not sure the FOOD is worth skipping the line over, as it is the building itself that is interesting.

Re the view: you have a slight view from inside.. at least where we were but the real VIEW is walking around, not necessarily during the meal. The lit up building and spiral walkway against the walls is impressive. We also went outside to a terrace, and really enjoyed the view from there.

I agree that the evening would be more impressive than the daytime, more dramatic lighting.

I will try some of the other places mentioned next time for an evening drink.

I would much rather have breakfast at the Adlon Kempinski Hotel. You can then walk over to the Reichstag to view the dome.

I don't know if I was just lucky, but I waited no more than 15 minutes in line for the dome when I was in Berlin in December, 2007.

We had dinner there in October 2009. One side of the restaurant has window view; but majority of the tables in the restaurant do not. For breakfast, I assume you have better chance of requesting a table with window view than for lunch or dinner.

Yes, they offer bottled water.

I've been working on what we want to see & do in Berlin & we are excited about seeing the city. We definitely won't have any problems filling our 7 full days there.
