Dachau & nymphenburg in a day?
Hello brilliant travelers -
We are making our first trip to Munich in November.
Wondering what is the likelihood we could do Dachau Concentration Camp if we're there when it opens,
and then be able to see Nymphenburg Palace in the same day? Is that too much, as the palace
closes at 4 p.m.?
Also, I sort of wonder if we'll be too somber after having toured Dachau to
go to the extremes of a palace.
Would appreciate your thoughts?
Thank you so much,
Tammy

It might be technically feasible, but it would not be my choice. I haven't been to Dachau, but I have been to Auschwitz / Birkenau, and am incredibly grateful that I planned a very quiet time for the rest of that day. YMMV. If you must visit them on the same day, would the reverse order be possible?

It depends on how much you care to see at Dachau. We arrived at Dachau visitor center at 8:53 by bus and took the 12:02 bus back to the train station. I watched the documentary movie, read all the panels at the museum, visited the Protestant memorial, and the crematorium. I stayed there until I was satisfied with the visit.
I visited Nymphenburg another day. I have spent less than three hours at Nymphenburg. This was in September, and in addition to the Palace and the carriage museum, I walked all the way to the Große Kaskade at the other end of the canal and back through the garden. There are many sites at Nymphenburg, but the outdoor sites are probably not as interesting in November.
