Czech Republic hotel - Telc and environs

We are planning a road trip through the Czech Republic and Poland. Can anyone recommend a nice hotel or apartment rental in the Telc region? We will be traveling with our daughter who will be a little older than 1.5 years at the time of travel.

I stayed at U Seniglu http://www.accommodation-telc.com/ when I was in Telc. Nice place, very clean, on the square, and resaonably priced. Telc is a lovely place but there is not that much to do. One night will probably be enough - unless you're travelling to see other places in the region.

There's lots of pensions on the square but I only remember seeing one hotel. When are you going and for how long in the Telc area? Wanting to rent an apartment intimates that you'll be in the area for several days or a week. Telc is not such a hot spot that you won't be able to find a room by going to the TI on the square.

There's not a lot of places on the outskirts of Telc so you'll want to be in town for access to restaurants in the evening. Also the square is so charming and beautiful why not stay there.

Thank you. We are planning to stay in Telc for two nights. Originally we were looking at three, but after doing some research (which basically led us to believe exactly what has been posted - nice town, but not for three days), we cut off a day and added it to Warsaw at the end of our trip.

We are planning to spend one day in Telc and on the other day, driving out to Cesky Krumlov to see that town. We are looking at places to stay in Telc or a little west to enable us to do that, without putting us too far afield of our next stop in Olomouc.

Thank you all again.

Last August we stayed at the Hotel Celerin in Telc on the main square, & I definitely recommend it. We had a spacious room for 4 that was reasonablel & included a nice breakfast. We LOVED Telc!!! It is a beautiful town with pastel colored buildings, a great castle & with 2 ponds on either side of the main square. it was very peaceful. However, we stayed for 2 nights first in Ceskly Krumlov (beautiful city) & if I remember correctly, it took us about 3 hours to drive from CK to Telc. I agree with Adrienne that you should stay in the main square of Telc because it is so pretty.

I think if you click on my name you can find my trip report from last August, if that would help. We stayed at Hotel Zlaty Andel in Cesky Krumlov on the Main square.

What is your itinerary like? We started in Prague, then drove to CK, then to Telc, then we had to return to Prague to drop off one of our daughters, then we drove to Karlovy Vary.

Can you go from Prague, to CK, then to Telc, then to Olomouc? Just a suggestion.

Thank you. We have read some good reviews about Hotel Celerin and are looking into it. Do you think it would be a good hotel for a couple traveling with a 1.5 year old?

Yes, we will be starting in Prague (4 nights). From there we will be going to CK -> Telc (2 nights) -> Olomouc (1) -> Krakow (3) -> Warsaw, via train (3).

We will be going for two weeks and last night discussed possibly adding 1 or 2 more nights to enable us to stay in CK, instead of trying to cram it in with two nights in Telc.

akrobat,
HOtel Celerin is definitely a good hotel for a 1.5 year old. The staff was very friendly & helpful, & it's in an excellent location.

I would definitely add 1 or 2 more nights so you can first stay in CK, then drive to Telc & stay right in Telc. We spent 2 nights in CK, then one night in Telc. I envy you! We loved our trip last year. Both CK & Telc are beautiful & worth overnighting in. Otherwise, you won't do them justice.

Do you have a hotel picked out for Krakow? We stayed at the Hotel Saski in 2003, about 1/2 block from the main square. Our room for 3 was spacious, excellent location & great breakfast included.

Thanks for the response Kwoo. We revised our itinerary to include a night in CK, thanks for the suggestion. Glad to hear that Hotel Celerin is a good choice with a child. This is a big concern for us as we plan our trip - we want to make sure she is comfortable as well.

Right now we're eyeing the new Hilton Garden Inn that is due to open in Krakow later this year because I have Hilton points to spare but in the event that it does not work out, we will definitely consider the Hotel Saski.

Akrobat,
I responded to your question about the castle in Poland on the Poland site. It was the Krasiczyn Castle (spelling?) in town of same name. I wrote a few more things if you want to check that site again.

Hi; Good information on this site to download for Prague, Krakow and Warsaw. Click on the city and then 'instant'. Richard www.inyourpocket.com

If you are driving from Cesky Krumlov to Telc, don't forget to stop in Jindrichuv Hradec.

Hi Wobbers. Can you say anymore re: Jindrichuv Hradec. We'll also be driving from CK to Telc and it appears to be right on the way.

Any restaurant recommendations in these towns?
