Paula,
The ANWB, which is the Dutch counterpart of Britain's AA has published 17 guides for cyclists. It has also marked out over a hundred tours from 15 to 30+ miles. There is a descriptive leaflet for each tour. You can pick them up at any VVV office in the Netherlands.

If you'll be renting bicycles, a word of caution. Most Dutch bicycles do not have hand brakes, but the more primitive but equally effective means of braking by pushing backwards on the pedal to stop the rear wheel's movement.

Be flexible in your route. The wind is fierce in Holland and if you select a route that ends up going against the wind, you might have a miserable time.

If you will be there several days, you might consider staying in a town in the center of the region and then using it as a base for day rides, rather than cycling from place to place with your luggage.

Hi Paula,
Holland is the ideal place for cycling. Rather than staying in one place, you could cycle from place to place while your luggage is brought to the next hotel. I know that the Bilderberg hotels offer this kind of service and probably many other hotel chains. At the ANWB or VVV office (see Wes Flowler's posting) they should be able to give you more information. If I find an interesting website, I'll let you know.
Enjoy Holland, it's my neighbouring country and I love it, especially Zeeland!

I found in my documentation a pamphlet of Postiljon Hotels, moderate priced hotels. Their website is: www.postiljon.nl (in English). The Bilderberg website is www.bilderberg.nl (also in English). These are more expensive hotels.
