Cannes is not a bad choice. The location is pretty central, the beach is beautiful, you can stroll under palm trees along the beachside promenade, sit in café in the yaught harbour and watch the people on their boats, stroll through Old Town...
For eating out, many people head to Mougins, where restaurants congregate around the central square.
