I've been to Orebic in Croatia. It's got a beautiful long sandy beach and is steeped in tradition also if you're interested in sighseeing. Good marina too

There are not many snady beaches in Croatia. Here is a link to a list.

Even then, its not exactly endless pink sand.

Proper five star hotels are also thin on the ground.

As PP and I said before, Croatia just does not have the combo you are looking for.

You may have to look for another place, or if you wish to visit Croatia , stay in 3-4 star ( not American standard) hotels and
beaches that are mostly stone.
The coast is lovely and worth visiting anyway.

Brac has a long, beautiful sandy beach. There is no hotel along it though.

Hvar has a great hotel at the harbor and you can take the small boats out to islands off shore each day. There is some sand on them. We love Hvar!!

The sandy beach in Dubrovnik isn't very nice.

My choice would be Hvar, doing daytrips from there, but don't discount Brac.

I stayed on Brac last year for two weeks. indeed there is one lovely sandy beach, but it is a bit overcrowded because it is the only one.

I actually didn't mind the pebbles at all becasue you can find very secluded little pebble beaches on Brac where you are the only one there for the whole day...and the wather is fantastic. Also, the pebbles don't tend to get into your knickers and other important places...like sand tends to do!

Must depend on what you're used to - here the perception is that Croatia has lots of sandy beaches - including beautiful islands with beaches - & that's mainly why Brits go there. Lawchick, your list looks quite long to me !

I too would not be sure about 5 star hotels though.
