I am considering a 12 day trip to Croatia and Slovenia arriving either early or mid Oct. I noticed on weatherbase.com that about half the days of the month have rain. Do you think it matters much whether we start our trip on Oct. 7 or Oct. 14 to get as much sunshine as possible? Has anyone been there in Oct? How was the weather? Thanks.

The earlier you go the better chance you have of good weather, but of course it is no guarantee. It is sometimes warm enough to swim in the sea until about October 15th, but it also might start raining at the beginning of the month.

I've been going to Croatia the last few years for the first three weeks in Oct. One trip the weather was gorgeous and warm every single day for the entire three weeks, last year I had one week of warm sunny weather and I was able to swim, but then it abruptly turned cold and rainy for the next two weeks. So, it's really hard to say how it will be. I think the earlier you go the better chance you have of good weather.

Check out the smartours trip. You liked their Africa Safari. I have taken many of their tours and the guide in Croatia "Steve" is the best we ever had. He just wants you to love his country. Two couples we recommended are booked on the 10/6 trip.

Fred-I did look at the smartours Croatia trip and it does look really good. However, I have decided that the weather in Oct. is too chancy, so I will go in Sept., although not this Sept. as I am booked up with other things this Sept. What month did you go and how was the weather? I always book tours based upon optimal weather norms, although I realize there are never any guarantees.
