CRIME in Ireland???

Hello. I will be travelling alone in Ireland for 2 months and I am a little worried about safety. I hear that Ireland is generally a safe country and I will be staying mainly in small towns. I was just wondering if there are any areas to stay away from and any special precautions to take (besides the usual travelling precautions). Erin

My wife and I spent two weeks there just last month, we heard about pickpockets, but nothing happened to us! We loved it.

Erin, beyond normal precautions I don't think you should have problems. I've seen posts here saying, " you are completely safe at night in (fill in the blank)." Wrong! One has to keep safety in mind always! I wouldn't travel to Northern Ireland in July, the marching season. We saw lovely towns, sites and people there in October, but these same towns have had difficulties recently. If you get a chance tho go to Glenariff Forest park and stay at the Meadows B&B in Cushendall. Have Fun!

Do you tend to have problems with drunks bothering you in Ireland?

Thanks for the info., everyone. So basically, if I use my common sense, and luckily I have some, there isn't any real danger of physical crimes? I'm staying away from N. Ireland. But now I'm hearing about this foot and mouth scare--what is the deal with that??
