DH and I will be staying 4 nights in Rethymno, Crete for a conference May 27-31. We would like to move to a new town and extend our stay in Crete 3 more nights and are looking for suggestions of where to stay, what to do and where to eat. Thanks!

Have you rad other (many) posted info and trip reports on Crete already posted? What do you like to do? Would you be driving?

We haven't booked flights yet. I think either airport on Crete will work for us, we'll be flying from Brussels.

I have just started reading some posts. I'm going to be getting plenty of beach time while DH is at the conference, so for the last 3 nights more towns and scenery. Hike Samaria Gorge perhaps? Outdoor days among ruins? Not interested in museums. Looking for off the beaten track towns and b&b or hotels. Great restaurant recommendations in Rethymno are welcome as well.
