Crete Greece Agios Nikolaus - What Hotels??

For days now, I have been searching sites on hotels. I'll be in Crete early September for 3 nights. I have at least narrowed my selection to Agios Nikolaus (no particular reason) - there are so many beautiful hotels - I can't decide. I do know I want one on the beach, walkng distant from the town - spending around $200 a night. I have found Hotel Candia Park Village, Iberostar Mirabello, Minos Palace Hotel and Hermes. WHich one of these are the best? Or is there more? My head and eyes hurts and I still have to plan my other 13 nights in Greece.

Anything you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

We stayed at the Hermes several years ago, and it was fine except for the food. We had chosen the half-board option (can't remember why we did that, but it was a mistake!). Good location in Ag Nik, nice room, etc.

I haven't stayed at any of those but know that the closest one and the only one that is walking distance to the centre is Hermes. The other ones you will have to take a taxi or bus. Candia being the farthest.
If you want another hotel in town close to your price range and by the beach there is also Palazzo Archontiko on Kitroplatia beach. It is not a "package" hotel like the others (greek family run with breakfast) so you can easily enjoy the restaurants in town. There are also others close by on that beach(shingle&sand)-Delta, Mare,Seaview,Sgouras.

Check also Elounda Ilion Hotel. It is a big hotel with a large swimming pool which has a magnificent view to the sea. My room was well furnished and it had a balcony. I think that the money I paid for that room weren’t too much for that hotel and that is the major rason I highly recommend it to you.

Thank you for your feedback! I appreciate it!

Nadia - is there a website I can view Palazzo Archontiko?

Reginamarey - thanks for the tip on Elounda Ilion - I'll check that out as well.

Hi; if you want to get off the beaten track, do something a bit different find deserted beaches, fab sites and scenery and see a really authentic part of Crete, try heading for east Crete. A luxury hotel id recommend near Aghios Nikolaos is the Blue Palace Elounda (you can watch a video of this hotel on the website of eastcretemagazineDOTcom)from here you can easily head for east Crete; take the road to Sitia and youll be wowed by the gorgeous mountain villages and stunning views en route. For beaches check out Vai and xerocambos and if youre looking for archeological sites you cant beat Kato Zakros.. Plenty more to say (I live here) but hope that helps for now...www.eastcretemagazine.com
