<<We love the outdoors, fine food and wine, quaint Italian villages, shopping, and relaxing and enjoying the culture.>>
I recommend renting a car for your time in the Tuscan countryside. The driving is easy and having a car will allow you to truly experience the area. There are lots of quaint villages and beautiful landscapes that are only accessible by car. Check kemwel.com for car rentals in Salerno and drive from there to your base in Tuscany. I also recommend you add some time to your countryside stay.
I've visited Venice many times and would not describe it as smelly or dirty. It is absolutely a one of a kind experience, beautiful and breathtaking.
Lake Como is easy to get to by train and a lovely destination. It's very relaxing and laid back but there are still lots of things to do. Or you could relax and just enjoy your surroundings. If you love the AC I think you will love Lake Como.
