Couple seeking romantic guidance in Paris during New Years
My husband is taking me to Paris for New Years. This is our 5th wedding anniversary and my first trip overseas ( I live in FLorida USA). We are looking for any help we can for some romantic dinner places and anything you may wish to add.

Barbara: I have spent New Years in Paris and although it was cold, it was a popular time of year to be in the city.

We made dinner reservations through our hotel several days in advance since it is extremely busy. We took a driving tour by chartered bus down the Champs Elysees' and around the Arc D' Triomphe and on to the Eiffel Tower. We got off the bus and decided to stay at the tower until midnight, later taking the Metro back to our hotel.

It was quite an evening and it being our first visit, we were not sure what to do, but with traffic the way it was, it turned out well. The Champs Elysees' was all lit up and the crowds were all along the avenue. It was very memorable.

I can't remember the restaurant, but maybe your hotel can help or someone who frequents this site and knows the city well, like Elvira maybe.

Good luck.

Restaurant Jules Verne would be the place - look for the web site on this forum. If it takes your fancy, BOOK NOW!! After last year's brilliant exhibition (top millenium effort on planet earth, I would say), the Eiffel Tower might be a bit busy this New Year. Eight weeks is tight for the Jules Verne.

Thanks everyone. Yes Jules Verne is fully booked until mid February. I have been working the the reservations department for four months and I was told yesterday that they lost my reservations. So I am still looking for dinner for NYEve and where the fireworks are being held.

I don't usually find big name restaurants to be romantic. I'll recommend a cozy little restaurant within easy walking distance to the Eifel Tower: Le Petit Troquet. It gets good reviews on this site and it should be wonderful on a dark, chilly night.
