Cottage near Bath

Hello. I am considering a trip with two other women and two girls (14). We are considering a cottage rental near Bath. We are interested in visiting Stonehenge, Salisbury, the Cotswolds, and maybe a day trip to London. If you have rented a cottage which meets this description and enjoyed your stay, would you please share the details with me?
Thank you so much.

I have not stayed in the area, but I have always been pleased with English Country Cottages http://tinyurl.com/ys3gs

It's a nice site because it gives a virtual tour of most of its properties.
You can see what the cottage actually looks like.

First, I'm assuming you will have a car.
If so, you might consider staying in Bradford on Avon, a pleasant, picturesque town at the edge of the Cotswolds and near Bath (you can get from BoA to Bath by train in case you don't want to drive into that city; from Bath you can also day trip to London, of course).
The BoA tourist office can help you choose from several cottage properties:

Thank you both so much. You are very helpful. I wonder if either of you is familiar with the Grist Mill on Owlpen Estate? http://tinyurl.com/o88on

I appreciate the assistance.

While I can't comment specifically of the cottages as Owlpen, I live a few miles away and can say that the area is spectacularly beautiful, and is off the main tourist drag of the Cotswolds. There are several nice Cotswold towns in the area - Tetbury and Cirencester (forget nearby Dursley, it's not got a lot to recommend it except for a large Tesco supermarket but Wotton-under-Edge is OK), and traditional shopping villages like Nailsworth (6 miles) and Minchinhampton (8 miles).

You would definitely need a car if staying here though.

It is a good location for visiting the sights you want to see. I can drive to Avebury in less than an hour, and Stonehenge is not that much further on. London is around a 2 hour drive, but it is much easier to take the train - 90 minutes from Stroud (10-15 minutes from Owlpen). To the Park-and-Ride outside Bath is about 40 minutes, and then you get the shuttle bus into the city centre. To get to the part of Gloucestershire that most people think of when they think Cotswolds, ie around Stow-on-the-Wold, Chipping Camden, Bourton-on-the-Water will take you around 40 minutes.

There is so much to see and do here in the beautiful south Cotswold hills, and I hope you have a wonderful trip wherever you decide to stay.
