cotswold public transport
I am thinknig of visiting the Cotswolds and staying at Stowe on the Wold. I will be using public transportation. I hear there is a bus, Pulham's or something like that, that stops in Stowe. Has anyone any idea how late this bus runs through Stowe?

Thanks!
Consider renting a car. Wrong side of the road is not a problem if you remember to keep the steering wheel in the middle of the road. Public transportation in the Cotswold's is difficult - you will spend more time waiting for buses than you would want to.

Sydney,
Driving on quiet rural roads doesn't bother me; but the $76/day rental car fee bothers me a lot! OK, I will admit the thought of parallel parking a car on the wrong side of the street with a stick shift on the wrong side is intimidating, too. But mainly I am intimidated by the $76/day fee.
I am afraid that pretty much rules out a car for me, as I am an economy traveler.

Don't assume the price of renting a car in the UK is $76/day until you have done some shopping, especially if you're talking about a standard transmission. If you make some calls and look on the net I'm sure you'll find something for much less than that price, even in an automatic. Renting a car in the UK is not as inexpensive as in the US, but it doesn't have to be in the price you've been frightened by.

Having a car in the Cotswolds will be worth the added expense (find a good price!!!) because then you can really explore the nooks and crannies that buses and trains just pass by.

Be sure to look at Auto Europe for prices on car rentals. There have been discussions recently about them here.
Good luck.
I hear ya, but I *really* want to know about the bus that stops in Stowe.

Wiht all these posters trouncing upon hapless tourists demandiong to know how DARE they consider taking the bus, it's no wonder the price of car rental in teh Cotswolds has been driven sky high.

So please, no more posts demanding to know what sort of prat doesn't rent a car in the Cotswolds. Let's take it as given. I want to know about public transport options.

Thank you!
