Cotswold accommodations

I have been searching on this site and on the internet for Cotswold accommodations for next July. (I keep looking at Bourton on the Water because it appears to be centrally located.) There are so many bed and breakfasts, villages, and towns in that area, that I'm totally overwhelmed. With that said, I'm looking for a bed and breakfast for two nights, for about 70-80 pounds a night totally (for 2 people). We will be in the Cotswolds on Wednesday afternoon and evening, all day Thursday, and then we will be leaving for London on Friday morning. Please help me by recommending two Cotswold towns not to miss and a bed and breakfast in one of those town to spend the two nights. We like to shop, see history, and of course, eat. Thanks. Helene

We loved Crestow House in Stow-on-the-Wold, where we spent two nights in September 2001. It's currently the #1 rated B & B in Stow-o-the-Wold in TripAdvisor:
http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserR...e_England.html

It's especially great if you are driving, because it's across the road from the entrance into Stow, and it has convenient parking. No problems getting in or out of town, and it was easy for us to make day trips to places like Blenheim Palace.

Here's a link to Crestow House's website: http://www.crestow.co.uk/
E-mail address in the lower right corner. I think it's probably the worst hotel website I've ever seen, however, so you might find more understandable detail here: http://www.beduk.co.uk/cgi-bin/bb-vi...prop_ref=CW099

There is a great view of the countryside behind the inn, which made me think of nothing so much as The Hobbitt.

MaryFran, did you happen to check out the cottage on the grounds of the Crestow House? It looks very nice and the rates are very reasonable.
thanks for posting the information.

No, I didn't check out the cottage. Sorry. I do think that everything Frank does on that property is very nice. He's a neat guy, too. An American Ex-pat.

Hi,
We stayed at the Southhill Farm B&B,just south of Stow, with our friends from Japan. Sian and Mark are great. I recommend this place highly.

I think it was about 60 for the night. If you stay tell the rabbit "hi" from Masatoshi.
