Costa Smeralda hotels
Hi all,
Thinking of spending the last week of September on/near the Costa Smeralda.
Can get good rates at the following 3 places:
Balocco (Porto Cervo)
Colonna Park (Porto Cervo)
Rocce Sarde (San Pantaleo)
I know that the Rocce Sarde has been highly recommended on this forum, but the Colonna Park and Balocco seem more conveniently located. Can also get a VERY low price at the Colonna. So...
What would you do??

I'm one of the people who have recommended Rocce Sarde. I'm thinking it depends on the experience that you want. If you stay in Porto Cervo, there will most likely be nothing authentically "Sardinian" about it. I'm sure it will be lovely, but more of a resort experience.
Rocce Sarde, on the other hand, is up in a mountain. The beach is 10 minutes away, and there are some very good, more authentic restaurants nearby. It would be a quiet place to stay, while Porto Cervo would be more of a party place. Porto Cervo is probably more convenient if you will not have a car.

Thanks AP, yes your enthusiastic review definitely makes the Rocce Sarde sound special. The thing is, we'll be going in late September, so I doubt anywhere will be a "party place" at that time of year.
Also, on the German "clone" of tripadvisor.com (holidaycheck.de), one of the posters mentions a lot of loud weddings (up to 2 a DAY on Fri and Sat) being held at the hotel in the fall. So...
Keep the opinions coming!
