Copenhagen Hotels???
We are planning a trip to Copenhagen for two nights in Aug 2001. We are considering one of the following hotels, Hotel Danmark, The Palace Hotel, 71 Nyhavn Hotel. Does anyone have any suggestions regarding price, location, room types etc. for these hotels?

We were supposed to stay at the Palace and got switched to the Grand. Both in medium price range but did not like the Grand for location for it was right next to the railroad station and very noisy. Went to visit the Palace and liked the restaurant, location on a square leading to all the shopping and restaurants. It was also near the Tiovoli where we spent an enjoyable night. Everything is expensive in Scandinavia.

Stayed at Nyhavn 71 in August 1999. Very clean, stylish rooms (smallish, but that is typical of Europe). Many have large windows overlooking canal. Good area with many great restaurants, outdoor cafes, etc. Excellent breakfast. Just one word of caution. Only the high-end rooms (executive?) have tubs, all the others have only showers. That did not bother us until I saw the shower arrangement. The bathroom is actually a small square room with a drain in the center of the floor with a curtain that goes across the bathroom! I would definately stay there again but I would reserve the Executive Room to be assured of a shower arrangement that most Americans are used to.

We stayed at 71 Nyhavn in 1998 and liked it very much. I would agree with everything Beth said (although I had forgotten about the bathroom til I read her post!) We found the staff to be very helpful with restaurant recommendations and other questions. We really liked the Nyhavn location and would definitely stay there again.
