Will be spending four nights in Copenhagen, would like to know if it would be better to stay in the center of the city, or Nyhaven area? Would appreciate some insight.

Nyhaven is more or less in the center, and it's a great area to stay in.

I stayed at a hotel called "The Square" which was beautifully modern and very reasonable. It was located rtight next to Tivoli gardens and within walking distance from everything. They have a great big breakfast room with tons of food ranging from yogurts to meats to cheeses to pastries. Very cool place!

Oh, It has A/C too!

I have a little recommendation... Send an email to their central booking office. Ask waht rates are at the Square and you can even ask what other offers they have available. The email is [email protected] . When I did this I got a much lower price than any other rates I saw online.

They also have a hotel at Nyhven called 71 Nyhavn Hotel which is on the websight. I am not such a big fan of Nyhavn because it seems a bit touristy, but it is a pretty place. The Square is located at completely the other end of the pedestrian shopping street that connects Tivoli to Nyhavn (always a great stroll).

Another good thing about The Square is that you can take the very convenient and inexpensive train from the airport to the main train station which is within walking distance from the Square.

I am also 7 days in copenhagen. Could you tell me how you are spending your days. I hope I don't get bored. Are you taking and side trips? Any recomendations would be helpful. I was think for spending the last three nights in Helinski, or Stockholm.

See the Viking Ship Museum at Roskilde!

Here you will see some of the longboats in which the Danes' ancestors headed out across the North Atlantic to Vinland. I get chills just thinking about that accomplishment.

RichardAb's advice about the The Square is spot-on-possibly your very best choice in all of Copenhagen, as it is smack dab on Tivoli Gardens, where you doubtless will be spending some time, and you can snag some good room rates, if you look sharp. I stayed at the Radisson SAS, which is too far out, and would not recommend it.

As far as the Little Mermaid? Well, you'll see.... it's like the Mannekin Pis in Brussels, small, insignficant, you will miss it if someone doesn't point it out to you!

Ks2- I have no idea. I just think it's the best place to stay in Copenhagen, and the most centrally located.

Ah, I understand your snide remark now. You misunderstood my sentence. When I said &quot;if you look sharp&quot; I did not mean dress, I meant there are good internet bargains to be had if one keeps a sharp eye on the hotel websites.

We were in Copenhagen last year and enjoyed The Admiral which is a hotel near Nyhaven on the harbor. It is a large rennovated modernized warehouse.

Nyhaven itself is several blocks of drinker and carousers sitting along the edge of the harbor, plus some diners and stroller. A little further on is the pedestrian walkway and there is lots to see. We liked the national museum and of course Tivoli is fun.
Also some nice trips in nearby areas.

I have been to Copenhagen twice and stayed in the Nyhaven area and found it was convenient to everything. The first trip we stayed at the Copenhagen Admiral Hotel which is in a former warehouse that is over 200 yrs old. It was very nice and looked out on the ferry boat area. The second time I stayed at the Hotel Sophie Amalie. It was smaller, nothing luxurious but it was nice and I beleive the rate included a breakfast buffet that was good. We were able to walk to many of the sights and there was a bus stop that was also very convenient. I also recommend the Viking Museum. Was lucky enough to stay at an upscale place (at someone else's expense) in Nyhaven but was struck by how close together everything is, so you'll be fine if you find a place either near Tivoli or near Nyhaven.

TBJ: I really loved my day trip to Helsingor (Hamlet's Elsinore) for the castle and Louisiana for the art and the location -- lovely. All doable by train from Copenhagen.
