I’d say you are a cool mom. You’re making really important memories.

"Toilet" seems to be the most universally understood word, regardless of language. If a woman is supposed to ask for the "ladies room", what does a guy ask for? So Victorian....

This reminds me when I was a child, we had Americans visiting one day. The man asked me where the bathroom was.
I took him upstairs to my parent's bathroom. Puzzled as to why he needed a bath

HA! Funny! Years ago when I was in high school, we were at Istanbul airport. I was asking some male employees where the bathroom was and they had no idea what i was talking about. We went round and round. I guess I should have said toilet.

>>the Men's room.<<

Which always sounded to me like a Stag bar of some sort. Maybe with 'ladies' of a certain sort

You really are on better footing just about anywhere in the world (other than in the US of A) asking / looking for 'the Toilet'

Not sure how we Americans decided to create so many terms to avoid saying toilet but we do that with many things!

The word "toilet" itself was originally a euphemism, meaning a place where you attended to your toilette. The term W.C., from "water closet" is used in many parts of Europe, and that also is a euphemism. So is "lavatory". I don't know that there's any word for the porcelain throne that doesn't have its roots in a euphemism.

In Italy, we call it "il bagno", just as the Americans do, or less commonly, the French word "toilette" or its italianized form "toeletta".
