confused about checking availability and securing reservation for hotel in rome??
i sent an availability request to pantheon b+b for one set of dates and was declined, so i tried for another date and got an email that a room was available. i sent my credit card information and believed i was securing a reservation, and then i got another email saying that they didnt have the room?? how does this work and am i going to experience this with other properties?? while we are on the subject, any suggestions for other hotels?? i wanted to be under $200. i do have a list and keep adding to compare each one. i just read about 58 via cavour.i know about the santa chiara and i am going to check out the cesari. i have read about hotel king and hotel julia, but i dont know if i am crazy about them. any help appreciated!! thanks

I am booked in the hotel Julia in Oct. I put in the request. they answered promptly, I sent me credit card info, they sent the confirmation the next day. No problem.
Although I looked for awhile until I found a hotel I could afford that was close to te Trevi Fountain.

i have since gotten a confirmation from the cesari(read good things about the property here). i still need another hotel for another date and wanted to stay somewhere else. the albergo del senato's price was 240-265euro-- more than i want to spend and the santa chiara's was about 178 euro. i will probably send in a request to them. actually the cesari was 185euro a bit more than i wanted but what the heck!!
