Compulsory testing before boarding to return to the UK

Hoping ( fingers crossed ) to jump on a plane to Greece asap and depending very much on today's announcement.
However we have our bottom line which rules out hotel quarantine on return . Also we'll not go to Greece in July ( too hot).
Can anyone give me their experience in returning to the UK and having to have the test before leaving foreign soil to include having the necessary confirmation to show the airline.
I am reading about people who do not receive the kit before leaving on their hols and those who do the test in the ( foreign) airport but the testing company does not return the confirmation of result before you board. In other words is there one or more company which is more /most reliable?
We've had both jabs and have requested and await a vaccination certificate which is due within 10 working days of request . This takes us up to the 16th June.
We intend to travel flight only.
Many thanks
Frances

You can get an antigen test before boarding the flight to the UK and you also need to purchase the day 2 & 8 test package & quarantine at home for 10 days unless todays announcements put Greece into the red zone. I don't know what kit you are referring to, is it a self test antigen test kit that you intend to take with you so you can test yourself for the return flight? You need a test certificate detailing the results.

This clinic offers antigen testing for EUR20. They don't mention the test certificate which is required for travel but would check to see if they provide one. There must be lots of clinics like this in Greece unless going to a small island.

I've had tests to return to the UK but not from Greece. You just show the test certificate to check in staff.

Well we are not on our way to Greece even though we should be in the air at present.
We'll roll forward three weeks although we are unlikely to go in July.
We have a booking rearranged twice from last August for the end of August this year. I wonder.......
Many thanks
