Definitely lots of suggestions and some passion on favorite German towns! I think I need another month or so But seriously, thanks for your generosity. And, we do plan to return to Germany either in the fall or in 2011.

logos999, I have been wondering what that German letter is that looks like an f & s running together & I see in one of your posts that you used it????

I can assure all of you that we will not give up Dachau, Salzburg, and at least 1 full day to walk around/see sites in Munich - plus the extra time at the end of each touring day for Munich. Auerdult is just for our strolling & browsing - we aren't buyers - more a leisure/relaxing time. The Deutsche is a must for hubby's pleasure.

With the thoughts of some of you, hubby & I have also decided to keep to our Vienna schedule.

But all of your suggestions have caused us to consider a day driving around - either a private driver/guide or renting a car. I'm going to start another topic for suggestions/info on those subjects. In the meantime, I'll work on all of the suggested towns to visit.

Re: our 7 full days in Berlin, we haven't yet gotten to selecting our sites-to-see & places-to-go. However, we have figured on at least 1 day trip, maybe two. So, that only leaves 5-6 full days in Berlin. Maybe one of our day trips could be to rent a car or hire a car/driver & visit some of the places suggested in that area.

Thanks again everyone, Julie

Do you meant this letter " ß " ? That is a "sharfe s", or a double s. You can write it either way if you don't have that letter on your keyboard. Groß or Gross.

ß is "esszett" oder "scharfes s".
You wirte "ss" after a short vovel and "ß" after a long vowel, the sound is the same.
Very simple ;-), if you know German.

Very interesting. I'll have to check out the German alphabet for others.

We are so excited about our trip to Germany. And even more excited that we plan to return. The more we plan this trip, the more we regret not having more time in Germany!
