Coach tours in the UK.
I would like some recommended Coach Tour operators in the UK..My travel consultants here in NA have offerings from Trafalger ,Globus and Insight but none of them offer exactly what I want. Most brochures books have lots on Ireland,Scotland and England with many repeat itinararies . I am looking for a 8-10 tour with a focus on Devon and Cornwall and several days in Wales. The more coast the better.Wales in particular seems to get short shrift from the above operators.I have been to Ireland before ....Scotland holds little interest for us nor does Bath/york/Stratford and old druid sites.Any ideas much appreciated. Timing late Sept early Oct 2010.

You really aren't going to find a tour operator that combines Cornwall/Devon/Wales. Perhaps you should plan on traveling to the UK on your own - and then if you really want organized group tours - book local tours for each area.
Like Back roads - which does a Devon/Cornwall 4 day-er and a Stonehenge/Oxford/wales 3-day tour. http://www.backroadstouring.co.uk/uk-tours
Or this one that specializes in Devon/Cornwall. http://www.devoncornwalltours.co.uk/
Barring that - you'd either need to travel independently (the best option IMO) -- OR-- hire one of the many private driver guides to tailor an itinerary that meets your needs. Blue Badges are especially good - though pricey http://www.blue-badge-guides.com/driver-guides.html

There are lots of coach tour operators -- but few (probably none actually) will offer what you are looking for.
You want a specialized itinerary -- so hiring a private driver guide or planning your own route by car or public transport are your main options.

I don't have specific operators to recommend. You may find you are best off doing Devon/Cornwall on one tour, and then Wales as something separate.
Under that approach, for Wales, I'd suggest looking for something that departs from Cardiff, or possibly Swansea (both readily accessible by train), and takes in the beautiful Gower Peninsula and/or the coastal resort town of Tenby. I gather Tenby is jammed with tourists in summer, but wasn't at all jammed last September when I visited. When I googled for Wales Coach Tour and added Tenby or Gower, a number of operators came up.

I agree that Shearings is a good company. But one would have to book various Shearings tours to cover what the OP wants -- like mentioned previously, he'd have to book tours for each area.
Plus they have specific departure points - - and are mostly aimed at OAPs.
