Clothing alterations Paris

Hi!
I am spending a year in Paris come September. I have several pieces of clothing, mostly jackets and blazers, that I would like to have tailored to fit me better. One of the jackets has embellishments & beadings that are very delicate, so I would like to find a skilled tailor who knows how to handle such things.
I have searched for tailors, but so far have only found some who make suits but do not alter already-made clothing.
Please let me know if you have any recommendations!

Why don't you have them done before you go?

You best learn some French pretty quickly! I agree with mmeperdu, get them done before you go.

My own neighborhood is riddled with Turkish, Chinese and African sewing shops which all claim to do alterations. Do they do them well? Who knows! But in any case they charge very little compared to a traditional French shop. When I had to get some things done once, I asked for a recommendation at the local dry cleaner. People like that are just as useful as pharmacists for knowing absolutely everything available in their part of town.

If you wander the streets, the word to look for on a sign is "retouches."
