Clothes Shopping in Brussels, Zurich, Luxemburg

Can anyone recommend some good bargain places to shop for clothes in these cities? I have read that bargains are few and far between in these cities so this may be a fruitless quest. But any suggestions you can provide will be appreciated.

Well Lisa,
We're gonna have to post this message again. I think its gotten lost among the dozens of other postings. Or could it be possible that no one else cares about shopping except us?

I can lend a small hand, living in Brussels. Not sure about Zurich or Lux.
In short, there are few bargains here in clothing. People regularly go to Aachen, Germany or the Netherlands to shop because prices are lower there. Some exceptions are certain European products. For example, French made Mephisto shoes cost about half as much in Brussels as they do in the US.

We stock up on clothing in our annual Xmas visit to the US. Americans are really good at producing good products at a reasonable price. Low sales taxes help, I suppose.

In Brussels, you might best stick to beer, food, chocolate and Frites <grin>.

I hope this helps.
Jerry

Thomas,
My husband and I love to shop on vacation too. In Brussels, we did not find any huge bargains but we did find some very affordable things. For example I found a pair of leather driving shoes in one of the shops in the St.Hubert Royal Galleries which is supposed to be full of very upscale expensive shops. In fact I am now sorry that I didn't buy two pair after I got a look at the prices in Nordstroms for the exact same pair of shoes. The Galleries are probably already on your agenda. It's a lot of fun just to have a coffee in one of 'side-walk'cafes and it's on the way to Grand-Place.
We didn't shop in Zurich, but went on to Lucern instead. Again, affordable, different things not just clothes and shoes. Bargains may not be very easy to find but affordable, fun shopping was available. Have a great vacation. Happy hunting.

being belgian, I can only agree that clothes are less expensive in the US.

however, if you want to buy f.ex. some european brands, try DOD... these shops are on ch. de Louvain... there are 4 up there : one for men, top right near place Madou, then women,
left hand side of street children & sports !
they are buying stocks and reselling at half or less high street prices !
(take metro/underground to MADOU)

good luck & enjoy your stay !
