Planning to arrive in Civitavecchia, Italy on the Island Princess and stay in Rome for a couple days before flying home. We are staying at a hotel a couple blocks from the Termini. Would like information on taking the train, with luggage, from the pier to the Termini - including distance from the pier in Civitavecchia to the Terminal,best way to get there, train schedule and approx cost.

Civit. to Rome takes under an hour and there are hourly trains, first class costs $l6 and 2nd class costs $11.There is a ship to <BR>Rome transport service but they chage $50 per person and we thought that for less than $100 we could arrange something ourselves.Have a great trip! <BR>

Princess Lines probably has a post-cruise hotel package in Rome, which includes transportation to the hotel. Even if you're not signed up for the package, they will probably let you use their transportation for a fee. Have your travel agent check.

Either way, you will need to <BR>change trains or take a taxi from the Station. <BR>Fun Fact to Know and Tell: The Stazione Termini is <BR>named after the Baths of Diocletian (Terme = thermal therefore bath), not as a terminus of a railway. Mr. Lomax is mistaken. I've taken the train to and from Civitavecchia and Rome many times. That is how I get to and from the ferry to Sardegna from Civitavecchia to Golfo Aranci and return, where I vacation every year. The train station in Civitavecchia is about a 10 minute walk from the port. If one doesn't have much luggage, it's a pleasant walk, because you walk along the beach and a lovely park. The train goes to Termini in Rome. It does stop in Ostiense and other stations, including St. Peter's (Vatican), Trastevere, and others.
