Cinque Terre from Livorno? An easy day trip?

We will be arriving in Livorno via cruise ship and would like to take a day trip to Cinque Terre. Looks like a train to La Spazia then regional train to Monterosso would work. Is a boat a better idea? Is this a reasonable day trip? We really want to see Cinque Terre.(sorry if this is a duplicate post, I can't find the previous post)

Hello tb
From Livorno you can reach Monterosso also directly by train
can you look www,trenitalia,com
From Monterosso by boat reach Vernazza than by train or boat Manarola - walking the lover trail
to Riomaggiore and take the train to
come back I skip Corniglia you have 400 step to walking to reach the town.
good travel

For more feedback you may want to go to www.cruisecritic.com. Look in the ports section of the discussion boards. IMO it is doable but be careful with the trains. Do not count on the trains to run on time esp. the regional Cinque Terre trains so don't plan on making close connections (you don't want to miss the boat!)
