Cinque Terre

Will be in Cinque Terre for 2.5 days, probably just staying in Monterosso the whole time. Are there different beaches or is it all just one beach? If there are multiple, which is the best beach? I am just a single woman traveling by myself. Any suggestions on accomdations or restaurants or other things to do besides the beach?

Thanks!

Monterosso has the only good beach in the CT, but it is not a big draw---the CT is all about hiking and sight seeing.

you may want to look at this info: http://www.ricksteves.com/news/cinqu...e-disaster.htm It seems as though it is a great time to go back there since the floods. Enjoy!

If the weather is good, take the boat from Monterosso to the other villages. It is a beautiful approach to each village. An awesome site to see the muti-colored buildings built on the side of a cliff. I am in Santa Margherita Ligure now and will be going to Cinque Terre on May 3. I have been many times and I never get tired of seeing the beautiful villages. Hopefully the rain will be gone on Wednesday. It rained here off and on all day. And it is supposed to rain most of the day tomorrow. It has not been heavy rain, just light showers. Forgot to say...I am also solo.

If you really want a beach vacatoin - not really sure this is the place for it. Cinque Terre is really about hiking - not sitting on the one not great beach.

Thanks for the good suggestions! Well, I'm already booked now for CT, so CT it is. I will enjoy the hiking as well, but I definitely will sit on the beach and relax. If anyone has any specific restaurant suggestions let me know!

Osteria a Cantina de Mananan in Corniglia. Take the shuttle up to town fromthe train station or walk the 300+ steps up. Good for local Ligurina CUsine. Menu on the chalk board.. Lunch and dinner

Most of the restaurants will have outdoor terraces. Look at the rest of the patrons, do they seem to be enjoying their food? Does it look fabulous to YOU? Ask the person who checks you in where they eat, what they like, if there is anyplace you should avoid. If you see someone leaving a place, ask them if they recommend it...or have another place they prefer. These are little towns. They will be busy with tourists, who are all happy to be there, and most will speak English. You will be able to eat lunch in any of the other towns, but expect to stay in Monterosso for dinner.

Enjoy Monterosso's beach. We thought it was quite fabulous last September.

Thanks everyone. I've heard a lot about a restaurant Miki or Micky, not sure how it's spelled. Has anyone eaten there? Is it as great as everyone makes it out to be?
