Christmas Markets Manchester 2013

We were in Manchester last evening for a very good curry at the Rajdoot, following the Manchester United v Arsenal game. The chalets and stalls for this year's markets are under construction and they were still working on them as we left the city around 9pm.

The markets are generally acknowledged as among the best in Europe, eclipsing even a lot of the German towns. Can't wait for them to open.

Thanks for reminding me, didn't make it last year. Will try this, good stalls and great atmosphere.

Yes, listed in Frommer's top ten Christmas markets in the world there looks to be even more stalls this year too - over 300. One of the best thing about living here is that you can just wait for a wintery afternoon with a few snow flurries and head in to Albert Square after work for gluhwein, bratwurst and a crepe - fantastic atmosphere.

We went to the first weekend of the markets yesterday and tjhome1 is absolutely right, it is bigger than ever. The place was very busy along all the streets that the stalls are on, from Albert Square down to the Triangle plus the side streets of King St, Brazennose St, St Ann's Sq.,etc.

Get down Dickie, it's worth the visit. Lots of food, drink and Christmas stuff. We bought some very nice salami, chorizo and cheese.
