Christmas in Barcelona

Hi everyone -

I will be spending the 24th, 25th and 26th of December in Barcelona and was looking for hints on restaurants that may be open for dinner on Christmas Day. Also, what can we expect as far as closures on the evening of the 24th and on the 26th. Thanks!

Our family will be there as well. Literally, just booked our flights. I will be some digging on the same issue so will post again if I find something.

We were in Rome last Christmas (left Barcelona on Dec 23), but we found that emailing our hotel, a Rick Steves' recommended hotel, ahead of time with request for ideas was very reassuring. Basically, they said IN ROME it was common for families to go out for Christmas Eve and named a few restaurants where we could eat but we could wait until arrival for reservations. In the end, we went to Midnight Mass at the Vatican (with tickets, of course) and ate hot dogs sold after Mass at 2:00 am at the stand in the square.

To sum up my ideas, contact your hotel in Barcelona for ideas and reassurance.

HI,

Ijust want to remark that here in Barcelona 26th is a local holiday as well (St Esteve's). My recommendation it's just to book from now the restaurant. Usually these days is common to stay at home but nowadays is very common for big families to plan meetings in restaurants.. So, if you wait until the last days to book it will be difficult to find somewhere to eat.
