Christian Louboutin at Target

I know this is totally off topic but I just consumed a lot of sugar. I almost fell over in Target today when I was stocking up on swiffers and tampons and saw a pair of platform Louboutin red patent leather heels on display for $21.99. O.K., so they say Mossimo and don't have a red sole but that's a hell a lot of cheaper than the $600 my boyfriend shelled out for my black patent leather mary janes.

And did I mention they were actually leather -- with an open toe, sling backs, and a 3 1/2 inch wood stacked platform heel? I'm wearing the tobacco colored ones right now and I'm just marveling in the glorious cheapness that they exude.

Target is quite the surprise, isn't it? I don't know anything about Tara Jarmon, and whether she is a joke or not in France, but Target is trumpeting her line of clothes from May to July with an ad that shows pretty young things frolicking in Paris. I saw the clothes in the store and if I had tinier hips and thighs and 20 fewer years, I'd wear them! Scary confession: I love Target and one of the first places I will go to in Paris is Monoprix, to see if they really are the Target of France.

OMG, I didn't even *think* to stop to look at the clothes (the dog was in the car). I'm surely going back to take a look. The monoprix I was in wasn't nearly as impressive as the fashion house of Target that opened up to me today -- but I was focused on produce and dairy products that day so perhaps I was just distracted.

Monoprix is fun - I had never experienced Tarjay the last time I was in France (we were slow to adopt the discount emporium here in NYC), but if memory serves me right, it's about the same, on an urban scale. I bought the snazziest cream and sugar set at Monoprix on a prior trip - I use them all the time and they just ooze Paris Modern cool... Now I must check out Target - as soon as I return from Paris!
