Chianti Highway crowds

How crowded is the so-called Chianti Highway or wine tasting region in Tuscany in July? Is it worse than Napa in August?

Charles -- are you related to the great champagne? I hear that Tuscany in July 2000 will be really crowded. In general, it's crowded, but the wine region I imagine will be particularly crowded. If you want wine tasting, check out a prior posting on switzerland vs. italy. It looks like there are some good places for wine tasting in Switzerland. I didn't know you could tour the wineries there, but apparently you can. Good luck. Send me some champagne.

Jacques -- no offense, but it sounds like you've never been to the Chianti region or to Europe. I'm looking for real advice on this posting (as I'm sure Charles is as well). That is curious about Charles's name. His champagne is outstanding! Anyone actually travel to the Chianti region or wine tasting regions in Switzerland that would like to post?

Relax, Jamie. Jacques sounds like he's trying to help. And no, I'm not related to the champagne. I've been asked that many times . . .

OK. So Chianti highway will be crowded . . . other ideas? Saw the "Can't sleep" posting on switzerland wineries. That could be interesting.

My wife and I traveled the highways of Chianti for several days last June. To Greve, Radda, etc. We ran into some traffic problems but they were minor. Nowhere near as bad as Napa where I ran into more traffic in February last year.
