Ladies:

My wife, child and I recently stayed at Livernano, a restored hilltop hamlet between Castellina and Radda. It was wonderful. It is a working winery. Pricey - $150+/nt, but very relaxing. The owners are Swiss and speak excellent English, breakfast is included and dinner can be taken as an extra. There is also a pool. The one caveat is that it is very remote - you must travel about five miles over a dirt road to reach it. Their web site is www.meos.ch/livernano.

Hi Tessa
I have just returned from a two week holiday at a great place close to Florence - about 8 miles south east.
It is an Agritourism or farm apartments on a working wineyard and olive oil producing estate. Each week they give a tour of the wine cellars and private Museum followed by a tasting of their wines and olive oil - they have won countless prizes for their Chianti!
I had a lovely large apartment with a spectacular view of the Arno valley. It was so hard to leave at the end of it.
You can check them out on www.fattoria-pagnana.com They speak good English and unlike many places in Italy they replied very promptly.
Ian

We loved Villa Scacciapensieri just north of Siena. We drove everywhere from there and we thought it was REALLY charming. Check out the images of the villa at www.web.tin.it/villascacciapensieri. Have fun!!!

Try www.knowital.com They list all sorts of places all over Tuscany. We found an apartment in a vineyard producing chianti, grappa, olive oil and honey complete with pool. Sounds reasonably priced. The one we're going to is at Fattoria Il Turco/Podere Torricella. Dr. Cristiano Castellani is the owner. Very prompt and professional. In any event, knowital has enough ideas to keep you busy for a long time and all accommodations are available through e-mail and have pictures and some have alternate web sites as well.
