Check This Out!
Just read this article on cnn.com about Michelangelo: <BR><BR>http://www.cnn.com/2003/SHOWBIZ/books/03/05/michelangelo.ceiling/index.html<BR><BR>Has anyone gotten a chance to read this book? The article doesn't really do much to entice or ignite my curiousity as it's stuff we've already read before. Anyone care to share some input on this book?

Rather attention-seeking of you, this message header, don't you think? I read and thoroughly enjoyed the book. It's very interesting and very readable, a quality I greatly appreciate in non-fiction. The book is filled with interesting stories not only about the Sistine chapel (and the subject matter and techniques used) and Michelangelo's life during this time, but also the artistic rivalries and political situation. <BR><BR>Very, very good book!

Just finished the book and enjoyed it. Ross King has another book about the building of the cathedral in Florence that is also good. Now I have to return to both places with a new appreciation of what went into the creation of both.

Well, this was a dilemma, and I knew there would be "pot-calling the-kettle-black" finger-pointing.<BR><BR>First and foremost, I thought it was appropriate to indicate that the message header of this thread is badly chosen. It DOES "make people look", and I have never "stealth titled" a posting like this.<BR><BR>I also thought it was appropriate to point out that others have posted info on this, and related books in the thread cited. I remembered it, because I winced at the time that a choice was made to put my name in the message header of that thread.<BR><BR>I do concur, that it is/was helpful of craisin to post the URL of the CNN article. I did not properly make a complimentary remark to craisin for that.<BR><BR>Kudos.<BR>

I think it is a great title - it got my attention and I don't think we should worry about message headers as long as they aren't inflamatory in nature.<BR>I could see someone taking issue if the header or message contained profanaties or were trying to illicit negative feedback, but this is a travel forum, not a rhetoric or metadiscourse forum.<BR><BR>And no, havn't read the book yet.
