Check out Italy itinerary for October
Arrive Milan early morning ferry to Mennagio
Stay Mennagio 3 days.
Pick up hire can Milan and drive to Castelruth, 3 day here.
Drive to Cortina for one day.
Drive to Venice for two days.
Drive to Tuscany for four days.
Drop off car in Florence stay 2 days.
Train to CT, walk trail stay 2 days.
Train down to Positano for 4 days.
Train to Rome for 3 days then fly home.
Any suggestions, we are in our early 30's and happy to get around and see a few things.
Thanks

Looks pretty good to me, Lesa! (You could do without the car in Venice of course, but you already know that ...)
The drive to Cortina is really scenic - you could plan it to include several of the most spectacular passes. Pick a clear day and try to include the Lagazuoi cable car ride (- it's usually best early in the day).
Another cable car ride I'd recommend is Sass Pordoi on the Pordoi Pass.
The Seceda lift at Ortisei takes you to wonderful hiking country in the Odle.
I suggested some Dolomite tours recently, - perhaps you saw the thread.
For a scenic route from Castelrotto to Venice I'd recommend the San Martino di Castrozza route. The scenery around San M. is some of the best in the Dolomites ...
Hope you enjoy the Dolomites as much as I do!

Do not go to Siena from Florence after you have dropped the car, you may visit Siena as part of your Tuscany tour by car. While touring the area you will be closer to Siena, Siena is easier to reach by car than by train (or by bus) and the drive across the hills is really scenic. Park your cat at the Siena soccer stadium (or in the neraby area), which is really close to the center of Siena and usually it is quite easy to find some places where to park the car (if you do not find places in the main parking lots, meander for a while in the smaller streets). Drop your car in Florence, and daytrip to Pisa on your way to Cinque Terre (you will have to go through Pisa in any way if you want to go from either Florence or Siena to La Spezia-Cinque terre).

Thanks for the info really appreciate it, all very useful. Will definitely check out the lifts Steve. Bob I didn't know I could pick up a can in Como, but that sounds like a much better idea. Alice we will definitely include Siena while we have the car, thanks for the parking tips.
