Least convoluted would be the coach, which is probably the cheapest:

You'd just have to board it at the proper place at Heathrow and then ride it all the way to Stansted.

Patricia, no there isn't, because the subway system, as you call it, does not go as far out of the city as Stansted. You could take the underground into London and a train to Stansted, but that would be in the same price range as the bus.
You are going to have to accept that these airports are a long ways apart.

You can try how much these options cost:
Taking the tube to Liverpool Street Station and taking the Stansted Express train.
Taking the tube to Victoria Station, walking two blocks to Victoria Coach Station, and then taking the National Express bus from there to Stansted. This is the cheaper of these two options - not sure how it compares to my first option.

Why do you expect the cheapest way to be the least convoluted anyway?
The cheapest ways are probably either:
1. To take the tube to Victoria, changing at Hammersmith. Then walk to the Terravision stop and get its coach (www.terravision.it Yes that IS the right URL)
2. Take the tube, changing at Green Park, to Tottenham Hale (about 75 mins from the time the tube leaves) Then the Stansted Express Both connections involve a fair amount of schlepping
Compare the few quid you might save with what you're saving by using Easyjet, and National Express will seem a lot more sensible
