Nando's doesn't get a lot of attention on here, but it's probably my favourite chain restaurant in London plus it's healthy. Freshly grilled chicken with Portuguese (peri-peri) seasoning and a good array of sides to choose from. If you don't order alcohol you can get out of there for around 10 quid:

I will heartily second the above! It is located near Victoria Station as stated as you head towards Belgravia. Have stayed at the B&B Belgravia and it is right down the street. There are actually several good local and inexpensive eateries around that area.

Per above recommendation: Pret a Manger (they're in NYC now) ) Try their pain aux raisins in for breakfast.

Many bakeries will have similar sandwiches on baguettes. Yummy.

IMHO Wagamama's is highly overrated and not particularly cheap.

We traipsed to Stock Pot (not a chain--not sure what the other is??) in Soho one cold Sunday evening. Very disappointing--as if they took all the negatives of English cooking as it was decades ago. It brought back memories, all right--not the good ones. I had some ersatz chicken and stewed tomatoes (chicken cacciatore?) and dry beef.

As a follow on to Russwuf's comment, here are a few other Belgravia/Victoria Station recommendations. I work in the area and have scouted all the options pretty thoroughly. If you order carefully you can get out of these for £10-£15 quid:

KAPPACASEIN at Borough Markets. Now that's what I'm talking about!!!!!!!I want to eat those everyday. When I say I want to hear about food under 10 quid, I want to hear about things like this. WOW!!! I would fly to London just for that.

JD Wetherspoons are a pub chain and offer pretty good value food and drink.

We have tried the Liberty bounds near the tower of London.

Yes...but of course as noted it comes down to your definition of cheap...main dishes can be had for under 10 quid but add on a side, a drink and a gratuity and one might not call it cheap.

Across the street from Baker Street Station is a large pub, with excellent, low cost food in the upstairs restaurant. Downstairs in the pub there are TV screens showing football matches. It's not always easy to find TV's in the pubs. This was a fun place to eat last week.
