I've got a family with 4 kids travelling through London next summer, and need someplace to call home for about 3 days. Hotels anywhere near the centre are prohibitively expensive. Any suggestions?

Hi Bob, <BR> <BR>London is a problem. You are correct in that most anything nice and and in the city is expensive. There are quite a few hotels and B & B's all around London, in very nice areas, except that the rooms are not very nice, in fact some are dumps. Although I've stayed in London a couple of times, next time I'll stay just outside London and take the train in. You'll find this much less expensive and the B & B's in the smaller cities and just great.

When you stay at b&b's, ask for the 'family room' which is usually a double bed and two twins. you would then need another room. We stayed at the 'white house' in London. It's out of downtown and a very short walk to the train station where frquent trains go into town. It wasn't fancy, but was decent and inexpensive. It's website is www.users.globalnet.co.ul/~dmark/

Rob, <BR>We took the whole family to London, and took 5 rooms in a small hotel on Gower St. This is near the British Museum. There are LOTS of small hotels like this on that street.
