Charles de Gaulle - Nerve wracking?

Some might think this question trite, I can assure you it is something I am just a little worried about.........how nervewracking is it to find your car hire company and drive out of Charles de Gaulle airport? We are heading to Amboise.

Just getting out of the luggage pickup area into the main terminal was nervewracking. No signs, construction, exits closed, we finally stumbled into the right place. Didn't drive ourselves but would not want to after observing our driver getting out. Now on the otherhand, just returned from Brussels and what a contrast. A beautiful and user friendly airport. Goodeluck!

It's a big 'ol crowded airport, like you would expect in any capital city. Depending on which airline, and thus which terminal. you come into, the car rental places may be easy and quick to get to or you may have to change terminals. We had no problem at all coming in from Moscow we just went downstairs and followed the signs. We used Hertz but they were all in about the same place. I did not need them, but I recall several information stations around the terminals that should be able to steer you to the cars.

Driving is straightforward enough and the airport is easy to get out of. I'd avoid going thru Paris . . the traffic is as bad as any major city these days. Hertz gave us a map, but I used the trusty Michelan road atlas more than anything else.

Hope this helps . . It is not that bad. We arrived from Newark, rented our car and found our way out without any problems. Just give yourself time, don't get upset and stop thinking it will be a nervewrecking experience. Relax and have a great trip.

There is no more hassle on CDG then any other airport. Pease notice that the car rental are outside and some of them do not spaek English.
I was there last year going exactly th same direction (Tours) and had problems on the highway. Just outside the irport there are some interchanges one by one. Keep looking for bourdeux (at least in the beginning). Be carefull not to get to Paris since then you will have to go into the Periferique and turn around there.
