Oh yes, the Puy de Fou, ethrush. How could I forget? We went twice with our teens who were quite old the second time and we all loved it. The first time we were so lucky to get tickets for their son et lumiere which is called "Cinescenie" - an absolutely fantastic show with over a thousand people and animals telling the story of the Vendee. Just amazing.

Another tip re rental car: specify diesel.....10% better mileage, 10% less cost/liter

Except that a diesel rental base price tends to be more expensive per day, plus there is an extra 5€ per day surcharge on diesel rentals according to Autoeurope, so that you would have to put on a lot of miles to make a difference; a tour of Normandy and the Loire valley does not make it.
