Cesky Krumlov to Prague

We want to rent a car as we leave Vienna, spend a couple of days in Dürnstein and the Wachau Valley, and then 3 days in Cesky Krumlov. If we drive straight to Prague, the drop charge for the car is a killer. So I was thinking about driving an hour or so south back to Linz to drop the car, and going on from there. What is the best way from Linz to Prague? I've tried using www.bahn.de but have no idea which "Linz" to choose. Thanks in advance for the help.

Pick the Linz Hbf (Hauptbahnhof = main train station).

Looks like two departures daily that require no change of trains, 4hr, 44min travel time.

Thanks, J62. Unfortunately, those trains are at really inconvenient times. Does someone know anything about the bus?

I still can't figure out what to do here. We can rent the car in Vienna and drop it in Linz for a reasonable price. Does anyone know if there is bus service between Linz and Cesky Krumlov? A cab would be about $75, which is a lot better than a drop charge of $250!

In researching my options to get to Cesky Krumlov from Prague in a time effective manner - I have come across mention of a daily shuttle bus between C.K. and Linz.

I have never taken it - so I have no first hand knowledge.

It looks like it leaves from the Linz Train Station at 12:30 and takes an hour and a half.

Here is the website: www.shuttlelobo.cz
