I'll second argaya's idea of choosing Krakow and leaving out Vienna if time is a factor. Yes, Krakow has its own charm and I would include a day trip to Auschwitz. Maybe salt mines but many would recommend also Zakopane in the Tatra Mnts. And Prague is great for just walking around.

I have to agree that you should'n miss Krakow. This city has a fantastic atmosphere and is one of the most beautiful (or maybe the most) cities in Poland.

Of all Polish cities I've been to Krakow by far by far was the most interesting and prettiest - and yes some great day trips (though Auschwitz-Birkenau ain't everyone's cup of tea but to me a salient sobering experience not to be missed if in Krakow).

Thank you everyone for the feedback, I am still trying to work out what to do, so many places I want to see and not enough time.

Will need to plan another Europe trip I think
