Have drinks at the Shearaton Diana Hotel, and enjoy their garden and the coolest people of Milan. I know that lots of famouse people stay there, The Principe Di Savoia and last, but definetly first on the list is the Four Seasons. Drinks there are a good excuse to sit in the lobby and watch the stars and rich go by. Ciao, Melissa

Well I only want to know - and NO I have no boring life - the reverse is my life.

But always some smart aleck must post their opinions, nobody has ask (MarkY) Sorry for that but its true, always at boards.

Thanks again Melissa1 for your nice post (perhaps she thinks the same as MarkY but keeps it for herself) - it was only a question not more

Hey Hollywood

I totally support your desire for celebrity sighting. Don't be put of by pretentious snobbery. Celebrity sighting and autograph hunting are hobbies for a lot of people. I hope that you get to meet lots of celebs during your stay in Milan

Have a great trip and don't forget to post a post-trip follow up. I for one would love to know whom you saw and met

Hi again Simone,
The Excelsior is supposed to be a really nice hotel, but I don't know it well. You're best bet would also to go shopping on in the center. OR at Corso Como 10 which is an expensive store with restaurant. The Hollywood disco is two steps away, and there you'll find the stars too.
I say that if you come here to look for the stars, than have fun. Don't listen to the men who have nothing nice to say.
My husband was the first to make fun of me star watching in NY (they were everywhere, I didn't have to search), till we ran into Michael Jordon! Then he was happy to tell people the story.
Ciao Ciao!

Hi again Melissa1,
thanks again for your answer. I hope the The Excelsior ist a good hotel, got it for a really good price at priceline (its a leading hotel of the world 5* - so I think its o.k. *smile*)

I love star watching, everytime I am in Los Angeles - star watching is my hobby Heard, Robbie Williams will be in town (Milan) at the same time I stay there *smile* so perhaps......

Thanks again for all your tips, hope the concierge at the hotel, will help as well

At the risk of sounding impertinent, HowardR, you should do a search on 'Robbie Williams'. There was a thread on here several weeks ago all about him -- who he is, why he's so popular in Britain but not so well known in the U.S., etc.

(I know you're a longtime Fodorite, HowardR, and I've read many of your posts and viewed many of your beautiful vacation pictures. I just couldn't resist a little good natured admonishment.)

What?? Robbie Williams, then you must tell me what information you have! I think he's cool. You know that George Clooney has a villa on Lake Como? Bought it from the Heinze family (as in ketchup). He's got a boat that he's seen in and a motorcycle that he rides around the lake on.
Simone- do tell about your info...But I say if Robbie is in town he'll definetly go to the Hollywood disco.
Let me know.

DickPatterson for the enlightenment (and the good-natured ribbing). You are right, I should have done a search (especially since I was recently admonished on the European board for daring to suggest someone do some research instead of asking a very, very broad question).

To Melissa,
It's Heinz, not Heinze.
No more ketchup for you!

Sorry about the "Heinze" I did intend to write "Heinz", but got so involved in my story that I didn't proof-read.
Anyway, the Hollywood disco is at the end of Corso Como, and not hard to find. Ask at your hotel, or jump in a taxi. They know.
That is all the info on Robbie I need to know. I'm going to go look for tickets now. Don't know how to get VIP tickets unless you know someone special. I might start working on that now.
Have a good weekend!
Ciao,
Melissa

Hi Melissa1

if you found some tickets or information about the VIP passes, please let me know ;-) ( perhaps you know someone special *smile*) I think the filaforum is totally sold out, you can only find tickets at italiantickets.com, but very very expensive

So if you get some infos about the concert or Robbie Williams in town *smile* please let me know

And now I have all infos about the hollywood disco, yesterday I bought a Milano tourist guide, and there were all infos inside about the hollywood disco (thanks for the tip)

Just a bit of trivia, but Theresa Heinz-Kerry, the sole heir to the Heinz fortune (by marriage and becoming a widow), is the wife of Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts. Mrs. Heinz-Kerry just changed her party affiliation from Republican to Democrat as her husband hopes to be the democratic nominee for President in 2004. I wonder if the villa was sold to fund Senator Kerry's campaign.

Gosh Leslie,
That's some really interesting info. I have no idea. I had read about the villa in an Italian magazine here. So it went from one American family to another American. Hmmmmm.

Simone, I'll let you know if I get anything. I'm working my connections this week, and Thursday I'm talking with someone who might be able to help. I'll keep in touch.

hollywoodgirl; definitely go for drinks at the Four Seasons. It's a beautiful place, and you might see some celebrities as well. And then have dinner at Bice, just a few minutes walk from the hotel.
