Celal Sultan or Armada in Istanbul?

My husband and I are going to Istanbul in June. I currently am thinking of the Celal Sultan which is $70/night and supossedly restored in 1996, or the Armada Hotel for $100/night. Has anyone stayed there or know any info on these places?

Hi Cynthia,

I cannot help you with these, but may I suggest you avoid Hotel Yavuz, we stayed there one night, found the rooms so small and it was so expensive - we moved to Side Pensione/Hotel and loved it. You will enjoy Istanbul, make sure you visit the Cistern. Denise
In November l998 we stayed for 6 nights at the Armada. We enjoyed its location, behind and below the Blue Mosque and practically on the Sea of Marmara. Walk out the front door for maybe 30 feet and there is the sea and the ancient seawalls, ready to be explored. The first night we had a room facing the sea--lots of street noise and noise from a loud club at the hotel. Moved to the quiet side, facing the Mosque. Great breakfast with lots of fruits, cheese, olives and pounds of combed honey. We paid less than the $100 and a Turkish tour agent arranged it for us. Email us for details. PS. You absolutely have to take a Bosphorus Ferry Cruise. Say hello to the lobby's turtle for us !
