Gracejoan3,

I must have a problem receiving their e-mails at my home e-mail address (not sure why as I don't have anything blocked).

Anyway, I sent them an e-mail today from work and they provided me a copy of the confirmation e-mail they sent yesterday.

All is good and they should be picking me up at CDG in November. Thanks again for the recommendation.

My husband and I will be landing at CDG on a Sunday at 9:40am. We will be staying by the Eifel Tower. My original plan was to take a shuttle but after reading all of this sounds like we should spring for a taxi. I'm guessing there shouldn't be too much traffic on a Sunday morning. Does anyone know about how much a taxi would cost to Hotel Champs de Mars by the Eifel Tower. The least expensive shuttle I have found is Yellow Van at 36E for 2 adults.

A taxi would cost more.

The taxi would be about 50E and take you directly to the hotel, which the shuttle may also do, but you can't be sure.

suze1--Last summer we stayed in that same general area. We took a taxi from CDG to the Muguet and it ran us around 50 euro. When we left Paris, we were at another hotel (in the 1st) and used Yellow Van. That ran 17 per person. They were great...they called when they were about 15 minutes away, then arrived right on time, and they checked our flights and took us to the correct terminal.

Gracejoan3--

I just booked shuttle-inter for arrival in two weeks. I could not find it on their website if they take credit cards? Could you confirm that for me please?

On my last taxi ride from CDG to our Paris hotel in the 7th I had to explain to the taxi driver how to find the hotel. I showed him on his own map (oh for a London cabbie). Since then it's Paris Shuttle Service for me. http://www.parisshuttleservice.com/

When in doubt, a car is a much better solution. After deplaning from a transatlantic flight, the last thing you want to do with your mother (not to mention any luggage) is take the RER.

Saving a few euros isn't worth the wear and tear you'll incur.

AS far as the cabbie and showing him, I always take the name of the hotel, address, and a small map printed out from Maqquest. Easy. And I want the map for my purposes also.

I always print out several copies from Mappy, or others, for taxis etc. Saves a lot of time with translation. I find it very helpful.

Glad you have the airport transportaion taken care of. That really is a good service. I think you will be happy that you ae using them. The price is right, too! Often cheaper than taking a taxi and with the better service.

Enjoy...........

Joan

Reading all the posts here about the private car service I decided to abandon the taxi and book the car service. Hey, what's 55 Euro when I can have the convenience of a driver!

Thanks for the glowing recommendation Joan. I booked with Shuttle Inter and got a response quickly, as you said they would do.

Now I just have to get through the next 12 days and I will be in Paris!

Glad you are all set with your transportation! The trip is so miserable that I feel I deserve the personal attention when I arrive! I even have the discount because I am a "returning" customer!

They will be picking me up on Thursday morning.....

Enjoy.....

Gracejoan-

How much do you normally tip the driver?

Thanks for all of your help.

The prices on the shuttle-inter site, are they per person or per vehicle prices? It doesn't specify on the web page. There are 3 of us and may work out cheaper on a taxi if the prices listed are per person.

Also, do they impose a limit in terms of lugguage, weight or pieces alike?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

For 3 just walk out the door to the taxi queue and get a cab. Have a map with the hotel address. No fuss no muss and it will be about 50E with tip for all of you. I also like to "pamper" myself upon arrival and not worry about even a phone call to a shuttle that may or may not arrive.
For your return, ask your hotel to arrange a taxi to come. Be aware that the meter will start running from the time it leaves a nearby taxi stand, and will continue as you load. SO be on time and ready to go.
