CDG to Montparnasse

Will be landing at CDG at 23:00 (11pm), and need to get to my hotel in the Gare Montparnasse area. What are my choices at that time of day?

I think the metro stops about midnight, doesn't it? Does the RER run that late from CDG? You might be forced to take a cab. Not a great time to get to Paris. Anybody have any ideas?

Two years ago we landed at 5:30 a.m. and had no trouble for I used the shuttle. I found the U.S.number in either Fodor's or Frommers, yellow pgs. in the beginning of the book and make reservatios from the U.S. The shuttle runs 24 hrs. a day and takes you directly to your hotel. I called from CDG and they came within 15 mins.

Last RERE train from CDG is around midnight (you may or may not make it); you can either change to a Metro train to get to Montparnasse, or get off at Gare du Nord (taxi stand) or St Michel (you'll have to flag) and get a taxi to your hotel. The Roissybus stops running at 11; ditto the AirFrance bus (ask, though, if you're arriving via AirFrance if they provide an alternate service).

Personally, I'd arrange for a car & driver to meet me at that hour. By the time you get through customs, etc. it'll be midnight. Negotiating with a taxi would be too awful to contemplate; the shuttle isn't bad, but I don't know if I'd want to be driven all over the city at that hour while other passengers were delivered.

I've arrived at that hour (almost same destination, coincidentally) and just took a taxi, I think that's easiest (and traffic isn't bad at night). I don't know why Elvira would think that difficult, just walk up to the taxi line and get one, there wasn't even any waiting at that hour--I don't negotiate for a taxi, you just get in one at the head of the taxi stand, it's no problem. I would much rather grab a cab than spend time and money reserving for a private driver (and what if your plane is late?).

Eli,

My wife & I flew into CDG last week and traveled to the Montparnasse area, but at 2:00 pm on a Sunday. We took a taxi which I would highly recommend. Cost was about 300FF to 350FF (which I believe amounts to about $40 US). There are taxis at a designated area in CDG (can't remember the exact gate, but you'll see signs. I would make sure to use this area, as I have heard unofficial "taxi" drivers may approach you elsewhere in the airport.
